YOUR CAREER IN LAW ENFORCEMENT COULD BE JUST AROUND THE CORNER! If you have considered a career in law enforcement, and are a male or female between the ages of 14-20, a Basic Explorer Academy will be starting soon. Candidates should be in good academic standing with at least a C average in their schoolwork. Candidates should not have a serious criminal history, nor should they have excessive traffic violations.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be between 14 and 20 years of age
Must maintain a C average in school
Must not have a serious criminal history
Must not have excessive traffic violations
Must be able to arrange transportation of their own
Must apply with a Post leader
Community service is an integral part of the Explorer program. We provide community service in many ways. We assist certified deputies at high school athletic events, and we assist with traffic control at various events in Rutherford County. Another interesting fact is that the Post is financially self sufficient. The Post earns $3,000 - $6,000 a year by assisting with events, and a fundraiser or two. The Post also particpated in a statewide Explorer Competition in Knoxville last year. We won first place in the crime scene investigation category. We are also checking into the possibility of meeting with other Posts within the Nashville/Murfreesboro area.
The Post meets every Monday evening at the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office in Murfreesboro. The meetings start at 6:00 PM and end at approximately 7:30 PM. If you are interested in a law enforcement career, or would like to check our program out further, we extend an invitation to you to come to our meeting.
